A Real Aggie thinks…
Oct 19th
Someday’s when I read blogs, forums and other news from my alma mater it makes me want to come home so much sooner. I had a blast at homecoming, despite not really feeling the love or even seeing the students go crazy after winning homecoming. Geez, it has been 7 years. Anyone who came into A&T from 2004 through 2010 never saw a homecoming win, in fact there was almost a whole graduating class that could have never seen an Aggie Victory.
So what if I came back to A&T, what would I do? Should I work in Student Affairs, oversee student activities and encourage student government to govern instead of program? Could I work in development and encourage private donors to give to A&T. Hey, wouldn’t being the Executive Director of the Alumni Association be a cool job?
Well, these are thoughts…. at the end of the day I know that one day I’m coming home to A&T and we all know what that day will be like
#GHOE – A $35 Fish Sandwich… how about a $616 fish sandwich?
Oct 12th
This evening we received an e-mail saying “Sign this Petition,” a perfectly timed petition in regards to the new Aggie Game Zone around the stadium. The e-mail centered around some idiotic argument that $35 was too much to pay for a fish sandwich, how about a $616 fish sandwich??? A full-time student at A&T would pay $616 per year in athletic fees thus meaning their homecoming fish sandwich from someone’s tailgate would have cost $616.00.
Alumni and friends should view their silly argument from the perspective of the student, the people who provide more support for the athletics programs than anyone else right now. So for alumni who don’t give back their time or money… spend $35 and buy a damn game ticket.
The Death of #GHOE

I contemplated for a while on what to say on the occasion of Homecoming at my alma mater, North Carolina A&T State University. Unlike so many other people I can say that we truly have “The Greatest Homecoming on Earth…and Beyond.” I have seen it grow and develop in ways that many others could not even describe. So just like any other Aggie I am excited about Homecoming, but as an alumnus each year becomes more and more important to me. Growing up with so many family members who graduated from A&T, I used to be the little kid tagging along to tailgates at the stadium, vendors at the Sheraton, waking up early for the parade and spending time on campus being referred to as “Little Bellamy.” Those memories have always influenced my perceptions of homecoming and really go back to the roots of homecoming, where we sought to bring back alumni from all over to update them on the status of the university, fun and fellowship. Guest Post: The Left’s Answer to the Tea Party
Oct 7th
The Occupy Wall Street Movement that began in mid-September has now caught fire around the nation. This is truly a grassroots movement unlike the Tea-Baggers Party who is funded by the Koch brothers, and other Super PACs whose idea of progress continues to marginalize people of color, working class individuals and others who have not been privileged to become trained to be hedge fund managers, investment bankers or republican politicians. Guest Opinion Post: Questioning the Death Penalty
Sep 23rd
Unfortunately last night the state of Georgia executed an innocent man, unfortunately for me this wasn’t the first time that I’ve seen or heard of an innocent man being put to death for a crime they didn’t commit by a “Criminal Justice System”. Living in Texas we have had a few innocent individuals be put to death by Mr. Bush, and Mr. Perry. I want to focus on Gary Graham. Mr. Graham was innocent of the crime he was put to death for like Mr. Troy Davis. Like Mr. Davis, there was no EVIDENCE to link Mr. Graham to the crime of murder, witnesses couldn’t credibly verify that Mr. Graham ”murdered” his “alleged victim” and unfortunately like Mr. Davis, Mr. Graham was not given a stay of execution.
